Breast Enlargement
Surgery in New Mexico
For the woman who desires a more curvaceous silhouette,
breast augmentation surgery can
provide naturally fuller-looking breasts
with more lift. A woman who is self-conscious about
her breast size can choose breast
augmentation with greater confidence.
The
breast enlargement procedure makes
breasts larger, rounder
and fuller while providing a natural
appearance. Women can have this surgery after their
breasts have fully developed. Breast augmentation
can help improve a woman's appearance after pregnancy
or excessive weight loss.
By
inserting an implant behind each
breast, your New Mexico area
plastic surgeon can increase your bust size
by one or more bra cup sizes.
If
you've always wanted larger or perkier breasts
- your New Mexico area plastic
surgeon may be able to give you the look
you desire. In addition to traditional breast
enlargement surgery, some New Mexico
area plastic surgeons perform
endoscopic breast augmentation using the
TUBA (umbilical) and axillary (underarm) methods.
In
addition, many plastic surgeons
use saline breast implants for
their breast enlargement patients
because of the more natural feel that these implants
provide.
Questions
About Breast Enlargement Surgery
Am
I a good candidate for Breast Enlargement Surgery?
If you are self-conscious about your breast size
or shape or don't feel comfortable with the way
you look in a swimsuit or form fitting top, you
may be a candidate for breast augmentation surgery. Another reason women choose breast
enlargement surgery (sometimes with a breast
lift) is if their breasts have begun to
sag or lose their firmness after having children.
What
Type of Implants are Best?
You should consult with your surgeon about whether
traditional round implants or more natural shaped
implants will work best with your body type and
give you the look you want to achieve. In addition,
many surgeons now use saline filled implants rather
than silicone. Because of concerns about silicone-gel
filled implants, the FDA has limited the use of
gel filled implants to women participating in approved
studies.
How
Long Will I Need to Take Off Work? You will
be tired and sore for a few days after surgery.
Most women are able to return to work within a few
days and resume more strenuous activity within a
month.
What
are the Risks of Breast Enlargement Surgery?
Breast enlargement surgery is a surgical procedure
and involves certain risks including the possibility
of infection, bleeding, blood clots and adverse
reactions to anesthesia. In addition, with breast
enlargement surgery, there is the risk that an implant
will burst or leak. Please discuss these risks with
your surgeon.
Will
I be able to Breast Feed? Breast augmentation
surgery normally does not affect a woman's
ability to breast feed. Please consult with your
surgeon about this issue.
Will
There be a Large Scar? Using the TUBA (umbilical)
and axillary (underarm) methods, your New Mexico area
plastic surgeon may be able to minimize scarring
- particularly in visible areas. In addition, some
plastic surgeons believe that these endoscopic methods
result in faster healing and less downtime for their
patients. Even when your surgeon determines that
a traditional incision will work best for you, your
surgeon is often able to minimize and conceal the
scar in the areola or under the fold of the breast.
You should ask to see before and after photos of
other patients who have had the same procedure.
What
about Mammograms? Women who are in the appropriate
age group or who have risk factors for breast cancer
should continue to have routine mammograms. Your
mammographic technician may need to use a special
technique to ensure reliable readings.
